In its 37 year history, the band AC/DC has featured over 26 members, and only two are original group members.

Brothers Angus and Malcolm Young of Australia founded the group in 1973, and remain active members to this day! The inspiration for the band’s name, however, can be partially accredited to their older sister Margaret. She saw the initials “AC/DC” (which stands for “alternating current/direct current”) on a sewing machine. The brothers felt that this name was symbolic of their band’s raw energy and power.

Though people the world over typically pronounce the band’s name by it’s individual letters, in the band’s native country many fans pronounce it “Acca Dacca!”
