925 million people worldwide suffer from chronic hunger.

This is really high, but it’s actually down from 2009 numbers, 1.023 BILLION people. The lower number this year is the result of both renewed economic growth in developing countries, and an overall drop in food prices since mid-2008. However, recently the price of food has been increasing, which will likely result in an increase in the global hunger level.

2/3 of the world’s undernourished live in just seven countries: Bangladesh, China, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia and Pakistan
